Henry Waddlesworth Longfellow

15 June 2007

There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

When Perakath studied, he really, really studied.

But it took him a hell of an effort to get started.

PS The actual line is “She was very good indeed” — but I like the commonly misquoted one much better. It rhymes.

PPS Of course the poet’s middle name is Wordsworth, but I like Waddlesworth better too. It reminds me of Biggles in the opening chapter of Biggles Learns to Fly

      ‘”What’s your name?”

“Bigglesworth, sir, but I’m afraid people find that a bit of a mouthful. Most people simply call me Biggles.”

The ghost of a smile crossed the flying instructor’s lips. “Right then, Biggles, get in….”‘
