How the heck is my Name and email already here?!?
A lot of my second year worked out like your situation right now… my fault only of course… I’d count it as a wasted year if I hadn’t end up wiser (i only realised that sentence lacks modesty after I wrote it… and only to those who don’t know what a shitty year I had had)

Aw thanks, Mandelam!
7 March 2007 at 3:42 pm |
Hey, that’s weird, by the way. This post seems to have two separate comment threads running in parallel.
7 March 2007 at 3:43 pm |
Oh, wait, nevermind, just realised that Saale Bhehnchod and Sigh were two different posts :P
7 March 2007 at 10:13 pm |
Yeah it’s led to a wee bit o’ confusion :)

Ah, new reading material…to be honest, I agree with a lot of what you say about living alone, the amount you enjoy it is directly proportionate to the number and quality of amusements on hand.

If Megadeth and Metallica were considered extreme then I wonder what you’d make of the music I’m listening to these days (Meshuggah, Jesu, Isis, Lamb of God, In Flames, etc.) :P

Perakath! Gosh don’t be so depressed. The internet can do wonders! As regards social lives etc. we are all not much better off:)

I was looking forward to living on my own. Reconsidering now.
You think road traffic is bad? I have someone crooning to Sleeping Child, by MLTR behind me.
And yes, summer 2006 was nice. But I’ve been cut from the pic…

Have you ever lived alone, Floppy Blue Hat?
Mandelam where do you live? Are you going for Maiden? Recommend an Isis song to download na… I’ve heard them described as ‘the thinking man’s metal’ :)
Thank you Paiwai! Cho chweet :)
Jitalingam, (a) I like MLTR :) (2) Sorry about the pic! Just so happens that Kartik’s ugly mug is in line with mine, and mine had to be visible :) otherwise it’d just be gay hehe…

I like how everyone is commenting on this post instead of Sigh :)

It’s all a bit fucked up with me, really. Nominally I live in my room at IITB, but my mother lives more or less across the road from IIT, so I end up doing all my work in my room, but I go home for meals, to sleep, for TV, for spending time with my mother (and my father when he visits – he works in Malaysia), etc.
And yes, Isis -is- ‘the thinking man’s metal’. Over Root and Thorn, 1000 Shards, Holy Tears are all good songs (all off the album In the Absence of Truth) to get into Isis. But given that their albums all have a flow, musically and often conceptually as well, it’s probably a better idea to start off with a complete album (and I’d highly recommend ItAoT).
PS- No, I will not be going for the Maiden concert. Never got into power metal. Find the bass lines getting too repetitive.

Hai hai… downloading a whole album is tricky. Can you zip the files and put them on Fileden or something for me?
I’ve never heard Maiden being described as power metal :) you mean you got into metal without liking Maiden, Deth, Priest, Metallica, and Sabbath?? Or you just don’t like Maiden enough to go all the way to Blore for them?
Do you like Dream Theater? too soft for you I suppose…
10 March 2007 at 2:31 am |
No, it’s weird: I like Death, Metallica and Dream Theater (to a certain extent). The ohter two I cannot stand. What be thy gmail address? Shall mail songs.
10 March 2007 at 4:48 am |
You can’t stand Sabbath??? That’s the one metal band I acknowledge as being truly original.
10 March 2007 at 3:32 pm |
In answer to your question, Perrakeet: yes. I spent pretty much all of first year living on my own in a single room, and it didn’t suck but I know I spent as much time as I possibly could outside it. Same thing this time, too. For all my intolerance of human beings in general, I still need to see them in order to effectively turn up my nose at them.

Might be, but it would have been much better had Ozzy not been the singer. I mean, what a voice.. yuck. Same goes for Dickinson, actually.
11 March 2007 at 9:56 pm |
Soup of the Day, my gmail id is adityaperakath.
Ozzy’s voice… haha! It’s unique. Have you heard any Sabbath when Ronnie James Dio sang for them? Lovely stuff! Dio’s voice is very good.
Oh man if you don’t like Bruce Dickinson’s voice what in the world do you think of James LaBrie from DT?? That’s the most common complaint about DT – that his voice sucks. But I think it fits their style of music well. It’s hard to sing that high! But I wish he would enunciate while singing live…
Floppo, forgot about your stint in Malka Ganj (wasn’t it?) *smiles at her comment*

Which reminds me, I’ve been postponing my inaugural Zonuts post for too long…
